Day One in Texas Concludes for WIU Men’s Golf

Freshman Jackson Wetherbee leads the Leathernecks after the first two rounds with a 148 (77-71)

DAY ONE RESULTS

SPRING, Texas – Western Illinois men's golf wrapped up day one of the Colin Montgomerie Invitational on Monday (Feb. 29) in Texas with a two-round score of 609 (307-302). The tournament is hosted by Houston Baptist and takes place at Cypresswood Golf Club.

Leading the way for WIU with one round remaining is Jackson Wetherbee who finished the opening round with a 77 before firing a 71 in round two. The freshman's total score of 148 places him in a tie for 29th overall.

Senior Alex Templin and junior Andrew Blackburn sit second and third on the team with marks of 152 and 153, respectively. Templin, who is tied for 49th overall, opened with a 74 before hitting a 78, while Blackburn, who is tied for 57th overall, carded a 78 in the first round and a 75 in the second.

Freshman Adam Falk is in 72nd overall after posting a two-round score of 157 (79-78), and junior Carter Morrison, who is in a tie for 73rd, rounds out the Leathernecks' scores with a 158 (78-80).

The third and final round of the tournament takes place Tuesday (March 1).
