After trailing by four points at halftime, WIU was able to keep things close until UNO began to pull away at the 13-minute mark of the second half. For the next six minutes the Mavericks would go on an 18-5 run, extending their lead from six points to 19, and all but putting the game out of Western's reach.

For the third consecutive game and eighth time this season, junior guard J.C. Fuller led Western in scoring. The Sioux City, Iowa native finished with 19 points on 7-of-18 shooting from the field and 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Fuller also grabbed seven rebounds and had an assist in 35 minutes of play.

Sophomore guard Garret Covington, who played a team-high 37 minutes, contributed 15 points, including three makes from long range, four rebounds and a team-best four assists. With his three makes from beyond the arc, the Edwardsville, Ill. product moved into sole possession of ninth-place on WIU's career three-pointers made list with 120.

Also scoring in double figures was freshman forward Dalan Ancrum who tallied 12 points. Ancrum, who hails from Round Rock, Texas, also finished with a season-high eight rebounds and a team-best two blocks.

Belleville, Michigan native and senior forward Mohamed Conde pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds in 35 minutes played.

The Mavericks were led by C.J. Carter who finished with 20 points, four rebounds and two assists, and Mike Rostampour who finished with 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Both UNO and Western shot 4-of-19 (21.1 percent) from three, while Omaha shot better from the field (42.4 percent – 35.0) and the free throw line (70.8 percent – 60.0).

Omaha outscored WIU, 42-14, in the paint, and committed just nine turnovers to WIU's 16.

The Leathernecks did, however, outrebound the Mavs, 44-39.
