Western Squads Each Place Seventh in The Summit League Championships

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Both the men's and women's Western Illinois cross country squards earned seventh place in The Summit League Championships at the Edgebrook Golf Course in Brookings. The women's team finished with a total of 259 points in the 6k while the men's squad scored 191 points in the 8k.

Madison Lefler was the first Leatherneck to cross the finish line in 23:54.53, earning 34th place. Alyssa Johnson's 24:49.00 time gave her 46th place. Shelby DePriest (26:34.50), Jaclyn Finney (27:09.55) and Jaylee Clements (28:16.99) took 57th, 58th and 59th place, respectively.

Grant Kaiser (27:33.77) and Lucas Lingle (27:41.66) finished back-to-back on the men's side in 37th and 38th place, respectively. Christian Hoover (29:50.70) and Riley Giesing (30:09.07) did the same to place 49th and 50th. Zack Fiser (53rd/30:48.32) and Micah Trancoso (55th/33:49.47) also ran for the Leathernecks.

South Dakota took the women's conference title with 38 points while IUPUI's 35 points earned them the men's crown.
