@WIUMensHoops Travels East to Virginia to Face the Tribe of William & Mary

MACOMB, Ill. - The Western Illinois men's basketball team travels east Tuesday (Nov. 25) to face the William & Mary Tribe for its fourth nonconference game of the season. The two teams are slated to tipoff at 6 p.m. CT in Williamsburg, Va. inside Kaplan Arena at William and Mary Hall (8,600).

UP NEXT: After continuing non-league play at William & Mary Tuesday evening the Leathernecks play host to Greenville inside Western Hall... The game between WIU and Greenville is slated to begin at 7:05 p.m. after the WIU Women's team plays host to North Dakota.

A LOOK AT WILLIAM & MARY: William & Mary enters Tuesday night's game with a 3-1 overall record, and currently riding a three-game win streak... The Tribe's only loss came at Florida in its season opener... William & Mary is led by senior Marcus Thornton and Omar Prewitt... Thornton leads the team in scoring, averaging 14.5 points per game to go along with his 3.0 rebounds per game and 1.5 assists per game... Prewitt is second on the team in scoring with an 11.5 average... The Tribe is coached by Tony Shaver who is in his 12th year at the helm, and his 29th year as a college head coach.

LEATHERNECKS VS. TRIBE SERIES HISTORY: Western Illinois trails the all-time series 1-0... The only meeting between the two programs occured last season in Macomb with William & Mary defeating WIU, 78-67... Garret Covington scored a season-high 26 points in the game, knocking down five three-point shots... The Tribe was led by then-junior Marcus Thorton who tallied 25 points and six assists... Then-freshman Omar Prewitt was also successful against the Leathernecks, notching 18 points and grabbing a team-best eight rebounds.

COVINGTON'S CAREER NIGHT: Sophomore Garret Covington finished the Leathernecks' win over Southeastern Louisiana with 29 points, a career-best... Those 29 points were the most by a member of the program since David Jackson scored 32 against Fort Wayne on Nov. 21, 2006.

DISHING OUT ASSISTS: As a team, Western Illinois finished its game at UIC with 20 assists on 24 made baskets...The 20 helpers is the most since last year's game against Grace Bible College (12/7/2013) when WIU finished with 23... The Leathernecks had three total games a season ago with 20 or more assists, but all three games were against non-Division I opponents... The last time WIU had 20 or more assists against a Division I opponent was Jan. 29, 2012 versus Omaha (25).

MORE ASSISTS: Sophomore guard Garret Covington leads WIU in assists this season after dishing out a career-high nine at UIC (11/17/2014)... His nine helpers is the most from a WIU player since Jan. 9, 2013 when Ceola Clark III had 12 versus  non-Division I opponent Greenville... It also marked the most assists in a game versus a Division I opponent since Feb. 2, 2012 versus Fort Wayne.

TEAM EFFORT IN GRABBING REBOUNDS: Four Leathernecks average five or more rebounds per game this season... Mohamed Conde and J.C. Fuller are tied for the team lead with a 5.7 average, while Tate Stensgaard and Jalen Chapman have both pulled down 5.0 boards per game.

TEAM LEADERS: Sophomore guard Garret Covington leads the team in points (17.0), assists per game (4.67), field goals (14), free throws (17)... Junior guard Jamie Batish leads the team in minutes played per game (35.0)... Covington and Batish are tied for team lead in three pointers made with six... Senior forward Mohamed Conde and junior guard J.C. Fuller lead the team in rebounds per game (5.7)... Conde also owns the team's best field goal percentage (45.5), sophomore Jabari Sandifer holds the team's best free throw percentage (77.8), and  freshman forward Dalan Ancrum has the best three-point field goal percentage (40.0)... Sophomore forward Mike Miklusak has the best assist/turnover ratio on the team (4.0)... Four players have two blocks on the year.

WIU IN ESPN'S DAILY RPI/STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE (as of Nov. 24): Western Illinois has an RPI (Rating Percentage Index) of 344 in ESPN's Daily RPI, and a SOS (Strength of Schedule) of 350. Joe Lunardi and his team of Bracketologists have replicated the Ratings Percentage Index (RPI), one of the tools used by the NCAA Selection Committee to evaluate teams.
