MACOMB, IL - Western Illinois dropped its regular-season finale Saturday afternoon, falling 91-69 to Lindenwood inside Western Hall.
The Leathernecks close the 2025-26 season at 5-26 overall and 1-19 in Ohio Valley Conference play, while Lindenwood improved to 17-14 overall and 11-9 in league action.
Lindenwood set the tone early, shooting 55 percent from the field in the first half to build a 50-28 lead at the break. The Lions finished the game at 51 percent from the floor and held a 41-29 rebounding advantage, including 14 offensive boards that led to 23 second-chance points.
Anias Futrell paced Lindenwood with 21 points, knocking down five three-pointers. Dontrez Williams recorded 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Jadis Jones added 12 points and 10 boards.
Western Illinois Leathernecks men's basketball matched Lindenwood with 41 second-half points and shot 44 percent after halftime, but the first-half deficit proved too much to overcome.
Danny Stephens led Western Illinois with 18 points off the bench, going 5-of-8 from the field, 3-of-5 from three-point range and 5-of-5 at the free-throw line. Antwaun Massey added 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting, while Francis Okwuosah contributed 10 points.
The Leathernecks shot 41 percent from the field and made nine three-pointers but were limited to 20 points in the paint and just three points off turnovers.Â
The game marked the final contest of the season for Western Illinois as they look forward to next season.Â
