MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois redshirt-freshman Larry Patterson (Tucker, Ark./The Principia) was selected by the College Football Performance Awards as one of the top kickoff returners last weekend. It is the first weekly award for Patterson.
He opened the Missouri State game by taking the kickoff 90 yards for his first collegiate touchdown. Patterson averaged 37 yards on five kickoff returns in the contest. He also caught a 38-yard touchdown pass that game, his first-ever TD reception.
Entering this weekend, Patterson ranks second in the Missouri Valley Football Conference and 32nd nationally averaging 25.0 yards per kickoff return.
The Leathernecks return to action this Saturday (Oct. 29), traveling to Youngstown State. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 noon central. The game can be heard on the Leatherneck Sports Network: 88.3 WIUS-FM and 102.7 WJEQ-FM in Macomb.
