HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. - The Leatherneck men's golf program began its final event of the fall on Monday morning as play in the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate began with 36 holes of action. Western Illinois is tied for 10th with a 584 (290, 294).
The first round team score of 290 is season-low for the Leathernecks.
Host Austin Peay State leads the way with a 560 (279, 281) and Samford's Drew Aimone is the low individual with a 135 (67,68).
Andrew Godfrey carded a 143 (72, 71) and is tied for 23rd to pace the Leatherneck five.
Tim Harwood and Kurt Slattery are both tied for 36th after they each shot a 145. Slattery started his day with a round one 70, which is his career low as a Leatherneck.
Dan Bidle fired a 151 (76,75) while Ben Kilborn finished the first day with a 154 (78,76).
Alex Flaugher made the trip and is competing as an individual and shot a 152 (77,75).
The low scores, no Leatherneck carded a round in the 80s, should continue tomorrow with the course playing fair just as it did last season when the Leathernecks fired a 882 (294, 294, 294).
Play will resume on Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
