MACOMB, Ill. - Former Leatherneck righthander and bullpen coach Pat Kohorst is currently leading the Washington (Pa.) Wild Things, one of ten teams in the independent Frontier League, with a perfect 4-0 record on the season.
Kohorst (Washington, Ill.) led the Wild Things to a 4-3 win over the Florence Freedom Wednesday night, after giving up two unearned runs on six hits, while fanning two batters in 5.2 innings of work. The win also knocked his earned run average down to 1.74, second lowest among Washington's starters and eighth lowest in the Frontier League.
On the season, Kohorst has given up four earned runs on 17 hits, walked six and struck out nine in 20.2 innings of work.
"It shouldn't surprise anyone that Pat is pitching well professionally," said Leatherneck skipper Stan Hyman. "He's been consistent over his entire career from high school, to Illinois Central, to Western and now to Washington. It's my hope that a major league scout will take notice and give him the opportunity to fulfill his ultimate dream. Everyone at Western is very proud of Ko."
The Wild Things are currently 10-10 and wrap up their three-game series with Florence tonight at 6:05 p.m. in Washington.
