Postgame quotes from Western Illinois head coach Derek Thomas:On breaking the six-game losing streak:?This has been some of the roughest two to three weeks I?ve ever had as a coach. It has been very similar to our first year here. The feeling after beating a team of this quality is very hard to describe.?On winning a close game:?We were in a situation very close to (Saturday?s loss at) Chicago State). We hit our late free throws and we got a stop on the other end that we didn?t get Saturday. Before you learn you have to hurt, and hurt really bad. I think our guys have gone through that. That?s why you saw an extra fire in them tonight.?
Oral Roberts head coach Scott Sutton:?They certainly played with a lot more urgency than we did tonight. I wasn?t sure how they would come out (after a close loss). You can either come out with your backs against a wall or you can come out fighting.??We played with a big lineup, much like we did against them at our place earlier. Both teams did a nice job of crashing the boards and giving themselves second chance opportunities.?
Postgame notes:? Tonight marks the second consecutive win over Oral Roberts in Western Hall, and avenges an 83-66 loss in Tulsa earlier this season.? In their last meeting, Caleb Green scored 32 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Tonight?s 15 points all came in the second half.? Oguns? previous double-double came at UMKC this season (13 points, 11 rebounds).? Jackson?s four three-pointers matches a career high.? NaVonta Kentle recorded a personal-best three blocked shots.
