MACOMB, Ill. - Five Western Illinois University student-athletes were named to the 2005 All-Gateway Football Conference Second Team and three were included on the honorable mention list when the league handed out its annual awards today.Senior running back Travis Glasford (Miami, Fla.), senior wide receiver Reggie Gray (Chicago, Ill.), senior linebacker Wyatt Green (Burnside, Ill.) and senior defensive end Piana Lukabu (Avenell, N.J.) were joined by junior offensive lineman Chad Walker (Peoria, Ill.) on the all-conference squad while three juniors - quarterback Steve LaFalce (Hoffman Estates, Ill.), wide receiver Marco Thomas (Chicago, Ill.) and defensive back Milan Woodard (Edwardsville, Ill.) will return to the 2006 roster after earning honorable mention status in 2005.Glasford became the only player in Leatherneck history to rush for 1,000 yards in three seasons. He compiled 1,052 rushing yards this season and ended his career as the school?s all-time leading rusher with 4,189 yards. Glasford earned second-team honors in 2003 and was named to the all-conference first team last season.Gray became Western Illinois? all-time leading receiver, recording 2,372 career receiving yards and 713 in his final campaign. Gray also earned second-team honors in 2002 and 2003, and was placed on the honorable mention list in 2004. Only two other players in Western Illinois history have earned four all-conference honors - Lee Russell (2000-03) and Frank Spraggins (1994-97).Lukabu, in his only season at Western Illinois, led the defense with six sacks and three forced fumbles, and had more total tackles (52) than any other defensive lineman.Walker started 10 of 11 games at left tackle, missing only the Iowa Wesleyan game. He anchored an offensive line that helped produced the third-best passing team (267.3 ypg) and third-most productive offense (418.2 ypg) in school history.LaFalce, who started all 11 games at quarterback completed a school-record 67.4 percent of his passes and compiled 2,586 passing yards - the fifth-highest single-season mark in school history. LaFalce threw 19 touchdown passes and averaged 235.1 yards per game. He became the first Leatherneck quarterback to throw for more than 350 yards in three consecutive games.Thomas, in his first season as a starter, led the Leathernecks with 794 receiving yards and five touchdowns, averaging 72.2 yards per game. He connected with LaFalce on a 98-yard touchdown pass at Illinois State, establishing the longest play from scrimmage in Western Illinois history.Woodard ranked third on the team with 57 total tackles and ranked second in the Gateway with three forced fumbles during league games. He had a career-high eight tackles at Stephen F. Austin.The Leathernecks finished the season with a 5-6 record and a 3-4 mark in the Gateway. They will return seven starters on both offense and defense next season.
