Western Illinois senior baseball player Brent Turner (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community) has been named Hampton Inn Scholar-Athlete of the Week Monday (May 11) for his performance on the field this past week and his continued success in the classroom.

Turner played his final game at Alfred D. Boyer Stadium on Sunday (May 10) and led the Leathernecks to a 5-4 victory over Omaha with a two-RBI single in the bottom of the ninth for the walkoff. The center fielder finished the day 1-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs. 

Earlier in the week, against No. 15 Iowa, Turner made an incredible diving catch that was featured on multiple sports networks. On the week Turner batted over .300 with five hits, two runs, three RBIs, and two stolen bases.

In the classroom Turner owns a 3.182  grade point average and majors in Biology.
