Jadrian Flores was named a Hampton Inn Scholar Athlete of the Month on Monday (Jan. 10). A junior from Lake in the Hills, Ill., Flores has played in each of his team's first 16 games, averaging 13 minutes per contest and shooting over 42% from the field.
What’s the best part about playing for Western Illinois?
“Definitely being able to play with guys I am close with and being able to play at a program where they support what we are doing to become a winning program.”
If you could give one piece of advice to someone hoping to play collegiately, what would you tell them?
“Outwork everyone around you, you will stick out if you are the hardest worker everywhere you go.”
What’s your favorite hobby outside of basketball?
“I would have to say just hanging around my family. Growing up you realize there isn’t much better than being able to be around people that love you.”
If you could have dinner with three guests of your choosing, who would it be and why?
“Derrick Rose is first on the list for sure. He’s my favorite player of all time. Next probably Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan just because of how great they were... the competitiveness and passion they played with is something I loved to watch.”
Do you have any hidden talents?
“Nothing specific comes to mind, I like being able to be multitalented. You never know when you may need a skill.”
How would your friends and family describe you as a person?
“Probably as someone who is passionate about what they believe in and someone who is determined and works hard no matter what it is.”
What is your current major and why did you choose it?
“I’m a Communications major with a minor in Marketing because I feel like I have a lot of options for what I can do with what I am learning.”
Dogs or cats?
“Dogs for sure, I’ve been around them my whole life.”
