Braeden Ward enters his first season with the Leatherneck baseball program as an assistant coach/pitching coach.
Ward joins the WIU staff after spending the season 2019 as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, Tiffin University. That season the Dragons won its first-ever conference title at the NCAA Division II level and advanced to the regional final. Ward worked primarily with pitchers during his lone season on the Tiffin staff, where he called pitches for TU and was in charge of preparing starting pitchers in pre-game by going over opponent hitting reports, as well as setting the pre-game routines. He also assisted in recruiting efforts.Â
Outside of his work at Tiffin, Ward spent four years with Prep Baseball Report (PBR), where he was an Associate Scout for the state of Ohio. He helped assemble Team Ohio and coaching the team at the Futures Game, along with working alongside the state scouting director covering the best talent in Ohio. Â
He joined the TU coaching staff, as a four-year letter winner for the Dragons from 2015-18, where he made 55 appearances on the mound, including 18 starts and logging over 159 innings of work. He ranks second all-time in appearances and top five of multiple categories Â
The native of Jeffersonville, Ohio he received a dual Bachelor’s degree in Sports Marketing and Managerial Studies and a Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Leadership at Tiffin University.Â
