HIGH SCHOOL: Abigail Richter comes to Western as the only female to medal in a running event at State in Triad High School history, finishing ninth in the 800. She is a conference champion in the 800, 4x100 relay, and 4x800 relay, and has been named All-Conference in each of her first three seasons. Richter is the school record holder in the 800 while be a member of the record setting 4x400 and 4x800 relay teams. During indoor competition, Richter twice placed in the top-10 in the 800 at the 2A Indoor Top Times meet and is the record holder in the 800, 4x400, and 4x800 relays. Richter also competed in cross country, claiming six individual meet wins in 2015 and was a two-time state qualifier.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Jason and Tanya Richter…Born June 5, 1998 in Belleville, Ill…Has volunteered with the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life and the Shaymus Relays…Lists her dad as her biggest sports influence because “He was my first coach and now is one of my biggest supporters. He always wants me to do my best.”… Her older brother Ben runs cross country and track at McKendree University and her twin sister Allison is on the track and field team at Western Illinois…Hobbies include running, biking, and swimming… Health and Physical Education major.
