Matt Post joined the Fighting Leatherneck family in August of 2016 as the Graduate Assistant for Track and Field, working primarily with the throwers.
Prior to Western, Post served as a volunteer throws coach at the U.S. Air Force Academy. During his time there, he help coach six First Team All-Mountain West finishers and coached two to academy records. Post also coached five 'Top-Ten' all-time marks in addition to coaching the men's team to indoor and outdoor conference titles.
From 2014-15, Post was a volunteer throws coach at American River College. There, he helped guide the men's and women's teams to Big 8 Conference titles. While he was there, the men's team won a Nor-Cal Championship and he helped coach three All-Americans.
Post competed at Boise State University where he threw a personal best of 214 (65.22m) in the hammer throw. In 2013 and 2014, he won back-to-back Mountain West individual titles in the hammer throw. In 2013, he was an Honorable Mention All-American in the hammer throw. Academically, he was a two-time Mountain West academic honoree and a member of the Boise State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee his senior year.
