Torinn Pope

Torinn Pope is in his first year as a cross country and track and field assistant coach. Pope works with all Leatherneck sprinters and hurdlers.

Pope graduated in May 2009 from Western Illinois University with a degree in Exercise Science. At WIU, he was a member of the men's cross country and track/field squads. He participated in track and field for five seasons (Winter 2005-Spring 2010) and cross country for four seasons (2006-2009).

In track & field, Pope participated in the 400, 600 and 800-meter events and earned All-Summit League outdoor honors in 2008. Pope also excelled in the classroom as he was named to six All-Summit League Academic teams. In addition, Pope was selected to The Summit League's Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence in 2006-07 and again in 2007-08 for the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons.

A native of Richton Park, Ill., Pope is currently pursuing a master's degree in Kinesiology/Exercise Science and will earn his degree in May 2011. Pope also teaches undergraduate 100 level fitness activity classes as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the WIU Department of Kinesiology.
