Terri Anderson joined Western Illinois track and field in August 2014 as an assistant coach. She assists with coaching the throwers for men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field.
In her first season several Western throwers posted personal-records in indoor and outdoor comeptition. Under Anderson's tutelage, Sheila Grant-Shaffer climbed to seventh on Western's all-time hammer throw rankings. At both the Indoor and Outdoor Summit League Championships, Anderson guided multiple Leathernecks to scoring performances.
Before coming to Western, Anderson attended Purdue University where she was a four-year letter winner, four-time NCAA First Round Qualifier, and a NCAA Championship Qualifier, earning Second Team All-American Honors. While at Purdue, the Haysville, Kansas native earned Big Ten Freshman of the year honors in 2009, and scored at every conference meet. She finished her career at Purdue in the record books ranked number three all-time in indoor shot put, number four all-time in outdoor shot put and number two all time in discus.
Anderson still holds the current state record for discus in Kansas, earning back-to-back state titles in the event her junior and senior years at Campus High School in Wichita. She also still holds the school records for shot put and discus, qualifying for state in discus all four years, and multiple times in shot put. The stand-out thrower's highest finish for shot put was third place in the state, while never finishing lower than third in the discus.
Between her time at Purdue and Western, Anderson focused on training and olympic lifting while also coaching high school track in Indianapolis and eventually coaching club volleyball back home in Kansas.
Anderson is currently pursuing her Masters Degree in Sport Management.
