Renetta Seiler enters her third season as the assistant track and field coach in charge of field events for Western Illinois University in 2012-13.
In her first two seasons, Seiler has coached Leatherneck throwers to two individual conference titles and seven All-Summit League selections.
During the 2010-11 track & field season, three Leathernecks captured Summit League individual titles. During the indoor season, Jason Crisman won the men's shot put (57’9.75”) and Nikki Klier captured the women's 400-meter dash title (55.52-new school record). Dana LaRue then won the women's shot put during the outdoor season (46’10.25”) and Nichole Manning set the women's pole vault outdoor school record (12’11.75”).
Crisman, Klier and Manning garnered both indoor and outdoor All-Summit League honors during Seiler's first year as assistant coach. Additionally, Jamario Taylor (men's high jump) was named to the indoor All-League squad while Chelsea Lynes (women's 800-meter run) and LaRue captured outdoor All-League honors. To conclude Seiler's first season as assistant coach, Manning, Crisman, Klier and LaRue all qualified for the NCAA Outdoor West Region Preliminaries held at Historic Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.
Seiler brought 10 years of coaching experience at the NCAA Division I and III levels to Western. She comes to Macomb from Buena Vista University where she served as men's and women's track and field head coach the last two years. She also worked as an assistant coach at the University of Northern Iowa from 2005-08.
Seiler guided Buena Vista to eighth- and fifth-place finishes, respectively, at the 2009 NCAA Men's Outdoor and Indoor Championships. In addition, Seiler oversaw the 2009 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor national champion in the men's long jump, four All-Americans, 20 all-conference performers and the breaking of 25 program records while at BVU. Seiler has also held assistant positions at Miami (Fla.) and Kansas State.
As a student-athlete at Kansas State from 1996-2000, Seiler broke school records in the hammer and weight throws and earned All-American honors six times. In addition to qualifying for the NCAA Championships seven times, Seiler was a seven-time Big XII Conference Champion and a 1997 World University Games finalist.
Seiler earned a bachelor's degree in education from Kansas State University in 2000.
