Cam Clark was announced defensive coordinator and safeties coach at Western Illinois University in the spring of 2020. He joined the Leathernecks with coaching experience at the Division I (FBS and FCS) and NAIA levels, which has also captured Southeastern Conference (SEC) and Sun Belt championship titles.

Clark spent three seasons on staff at Lamar University (2017-19), two as its co-defensive coordinator, and was charged with producing one of the Southland Conference's top linebackers in Chaston Brooks. The four-year letter winner finished the 2018 season third on the team with 70 tackles, including a tackle for a loss, eight pass breakups, an interception, and two forced fumbles. He ended the campaign as an honorable mention all-conference selection. Lamar made the FCS playoffs for the first time in school history in 2018.

During Clark's first season in Southeast Texas, he coached one of the youngest position groups in the Southland. Big Red's depth chart consisted of one senior and a junior while the rest of the roster consisted of first or second-year players.

Before a two-year stint at Faulkner University (2015-16), Clark served as a defensive graduate assistant at Auburn University under current head coach Gus Malzahn. He worked with Auburn's safeties and nickel backs, as well as special teams, and was heavily involved with recruiting.

During his time at Auburn (2013-15), the Tigers climbed to the top of the SEC, rolling all the way to the 2013 National Championship Game.

Clark coached under Malzahn in a similar capacity at Arkansas State, assisting the team to back-to-back Sun Belt Conference championships and back-to-back appearances in the GoDaddy.com Bowl. With a 17-13 victory over No. 25 Kent State (2012), the Red Wolves clinched their first bowl title since 1970 while also claiming their first win over a ranked opponent since joining the FBS in 1992.

Clark's coaching path followed a successful playing career at Harding University, where he was a four-year letter winner in football and track and field. He received his bachelor's degree from Harding in 2007 and graduated from Auburn with a master's in adult education in 2014.

Clark and his wife, Dana, have two children, son, Hutch, and daughter, Davis.
