Western Illinois University Athletics

Katie Kane was hired as the assistant director for Western Illinois Athletics Media Services in July 2008, after having served in the Media Services office as a graduate assistant for two years. She served as the Director of Media Services on an interim basis from August 2009 to December 2009.

During the interim period, Kane oversaw the media relations efforts of all 20 Western Illinois sport programs and served as the primary contact for the Fighting Leatherneck football and men's basketball programs.

Currently, Kane is the primary media contact for the volleyball, men's basketball and the men's and women's tennis teams, and has previously been the main contact for football, softball, swimming and diving, track and field and golf. Kane has served as the printing coordinator, the publications coordinator and now works as the multimedia coordinator

The Bartlett, Ill., native came to Western Illinois from Illinois State, where she completed her bachelor of science degree in communication studies. During her senior year at Illinois State, Kane served as a student intern in the media services office as the primary contact for the women’s golf team. In addition to women’s golf, Kane assisted department colleagues in all aspects of football, volleyball, and basketball.
