Leathernecks Head into a match Sunday versus Illinois State

MACOMB, IL - The Western Illinois Women's Soccer team will be back in action on Sunday, September 13th, with a match against the Redbirds of Illinois State at 3pm at John MacKenzie Alumni Field.

The Leathernecks are coming off of a loss to UIC on Thursday, September 10th, which had a final score of 2-0. Western Illinois was able to come through with 9 saves in the game, all of which were by Mahe-Lee Caron. Nelly Beliveau had the lone shot for the Leathernecks in the game as well. 

Scouting Illinois State
Illinois State has started the season with a 4-1-3 record, with the lone loss coming at the hands of Loyola-Chicago. Ava Watson and Rylann Law both lead the Redbirds with 2 goals a piece, while Madi Valenti has played every minute in goal for the Redbirds this season, having a .75 GAA and 23 total saves.

Series History
Western Illinois Trails in the all time series against the Redbirds 2-10-2, with the last win coming in 2021 for the Leathernecks. In the 15th match in the series history, the Leathernecks are hoping to get back in the win column, and build momentum moving into the upcoming OVC conference play.
