MACOMB, IL. – Western Illinois University Athletics has announced the hiring of Timothy Warren as the new Assistant Director of Sports Performance.
Warren brings experience from both NCAA Division I and Division II programs, with a background in strength and conditioning, speed and power development, athlete monitoring, injury prevention, and return-to-play programming.
He arrives at Western Illinois after serving as Director of Football Strength and Conditioning at Bucknell University, where he oversaw all areas of sports performance for the Bison football program. His responsibilities included strength and conditioning, speed development, recovery, nutrition and hydration initiatives, performance testing, and athlete monitoring. He also managed PlayerData GPS systems and worked closely with coaching and sports medicine staffs to track workload and improve performance.
Before Bucknell, Warren was the Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning at Charleston Southern University. In that role, he assisted with football while serving as the lead strength coach for track and field, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball, and tennis. He also helped oversee performance testing, movement assessments, athlete readiness monitoring, internship supervision, and facility development.
Warren previously served as a Strength and Conditioning Graduate Assistant at Newberry College, where he led sports performance programs for basketball and baseball while assisting with football. He also completed internships at University of Wisconsin–Madison, Marquette University, and University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee.
A native of Wisconsin, Warren earned his bachelor's degree in kinesiology from University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and a master's degree in sports administration from Newberry College. He holds Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, along with USA Weightlifting Level 1 and First Aid/CPR/AED certifications.
In his new role, Warren will help oversee the development of sports performance programs for Leatherneck student-athletes, working closely with coaches and support staff to help them perform at their highest level.
