MACOMB, Ill.- Western Illinois dropped Friday's series opener at Morehead State despite a pair of home runs from the Leatherneck offense.
After Morehead State jumped out to an early lead, the Leathernecks answered with some power at the plate. Liam Bushey launched a three-run homer to right field in the middle innings, bringing home Krayton Morse and Joe Connolly. Bushey later added an RBI double down the right field line to continue his strong day offensively.
Kamryn Link also provided a spark with a solo home run and finished with an RBI single later in the game. Joshua McClintock added a two-run double for the Leathernecks as Western Illinois continued to battle offensively throughout the contest.
The Leathernecks continue their fight against Morehead State tomorrow.
