MACOMB, IL – Following the conclusion of the Ohio Valley Conference Softball Championship, Will Thomas, Director of Broadcasting Services for WIU Athletics, along with a group of Western Illinois volunteers, continued their postseason work at the OVC Baseball Championship this past weekend by assisting with ESPN+ productions throughout the tournament.

Representing Western Illinois at the championships were student workers Mason Kelly and Caiden Strenz, along with Baldwin Martinez, Sports Broadcasting Coordinator for the School of Communication and Media, and Will Thomas, Director of Broadcasting Services for WIU Athletics.

The group assisted in control room operations throughout the tournaments. Their work helped bring OVC postseason action to ESPN+ viewers across the conference.

For the student workers involved, the experience was another opportunity to put into practice the work they've done throughout the academic year covering Leatherneck Athletics events.

"Working the OVC Championships is a wonderful opportunity and experience for our Western Illinois Broadcasting students," Thomas said. "All of our students volunteer countless hours throughout the school year and cap the season off with real world experiences."

Western's continued involvement in OVC Championship broadcasts highlights the experience students are able to gain through the university's live production and broadcasting opportunities while working some of the conference's biggest events.
