MACOMB, IL -Â The Western Illinois Softball team (10-21, 5-9 OVC) dropped the final game of the 3-game series against Tennessee Tech Sunday afternoon after winning both games of the doubleheader yesterday.Â

Tennessee Tech came out hot to start the game with Jailynn Paderez hitting a two-run home run in the top of the 1st. The Golden Eagles would add 4 more runs in the 2nd on an RBI single from Sofia Carroll that scored two and an RBI double from Paderez.

The Leathernecks would get on the board in the 4th with a 1-out RBI double from Kennedy Highley that scored Angie Ortiz. Rylee German would plate the other run on a sacrifice fly the following at bat.Â

Tennessee Tech would extend their lead in the 5th with 2 runs in the 5th and 3 runs in the 6th to make the score 11-2. Western would add 2 more in the 6th but ultimately fall, 12-4.

The Leathernecks will have a quick turnaround heading into their matchup on Tuesday at Illinois.
