MACOMB, IL - The Western Illinois Leathernecks softball dropped a doubleheader to Lindenwood on Saturday at Mary Ellen McKee Stadium, falling 10-0 in Game 1 and 8-1 in Game 2.
Western Illinois showed improvement offensively in the second game, recording 10 hits after being limited to four in the opener. Payton Brown, Ruby Tarr, Sophia Sanchez, and Alijah Williams each had multi-hit efforts, with Williams driving in the Leathernecks' lone run on an RBI single in the sixth.
Libby Spaulding kept Game 1 close through four innings before Lindenwood broke it open in the 5th. In Game 2, Lillie Wools started in the circle and went five innings, with Kathryn McChristy pitching the final two.
The Leathernecks will look to respond in the series finale tomorrow at noon for its final home game of the season.Â
