MACOMB, Ill.- Western Illinois came up short Friday afternoon, falling to SIUE 2-4 in Macomb.
The Leathernecks struggled to get much going at the plate, finishing with just four hits while striking out 11 times. SIUE starter Tim Teixeira kept the Leathernecks off balance most of the day, giving up just one run over seven innings.
Western got on the board in the sixth with a sacrifice fly from Liam Bushey that brought in Josh McClintock. Krayton Morse added in the eighth with a solo home run to make it 2-4, but the Leathernecks couldn't get anything else going.
Max Tripure went six innings on the mound for Western and struck out six.Â
The Leathernecks will try to even things up as the series continues tomorrow back at Alfred D. Boyer Stadium.
