MACOMB, Ill.- Western Illinois University is happy to announce the signing of Mya Robinson, a 5'9" guard from Troy, Missouri, to the Leathernecks women's basketball program.
Robinson joins WIU following an amazing career at Troy Buchanan High School, where she established herself as one of the top players in the state.
As a senior, Robinson was named Conference Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and Class 5 District Player of the Year. She also earned First Team All-State honors and was selected to the St. Louis All-Metro Team. Among her many milestones, Robinson reached 1,000 career points and was named MVP of the Pepsi-Cola Shoot Out, while also earning Visitation All-Tournament Team honors and MVP recognition at the Sophie Cunningham Classic.
Robinson's success has been consistent throughout her high school career. During her junior season, she earned Conference Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, Class 5 District Player of the Year, First Team All-State, and St. Louis All-Metro Team honors, in addition to being named MVP of the Troy Pepsi-Cola Shoot Out. As a sophomore, she was named Second Team All-Conference, First Team All-District, and again earned MVP honors at the Troy Pepsi-Cola Shoot Out. Robinson made an immediate impact as a freshman, earning First Team All-Conference and First Team All-District recognition, along with MVP honors at the Troy Pepsi-Cola Shoot Out.
"I like how the team plays, it feels like somewhere I could fit in and keep getting better," Robinson said of her decision to join the Leathernecks.
