MACOMB, Ill. – The Western Illinois University women's basketball program continues to excel both on the court and in the classroom, earning a No. 6 national ranking in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) 2025-26 Academic Top 25 Team Honor Rolls.

The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes women's basketball programs across the nation that achieve the highest combined team grade-point averages during the academic year. Teams from NCAA Divisions I, II, III, NAIA, and two-year colleges are eligible for recognition, provided they post a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and are nominated by a WBCA-member head coach.

The Leathernecks finished sixth among all NCAA Division I programs, continuing a tradition of academic excellence that has become a hallmark of the program.

"I'm incredibly proud that with all this team accomplished on the court, they continued the remarkable success our program has had in the classroom," said head coach JD Gravina. "It's become so normal for us to finish in the top 10 nationally in team GPA, and that consistency shows that we are bringing in great student-athletes to our program year in and year out."

Western Illinois' top-10 finish reflects the program's commitment to developing student-athletes who excel both academically and athletically. The recognition adds to another successful year for the Leathernecks and underscores the culture of excellence that continues to define the women's basketball program.
