MACOMB, Ill.- Western Illinois fell to Lindenwood, 1-4, on Saturday afternoon, finishing with six hits, one run, and one error in the contest.
On the mound, Jason Buhl got the start and took the loss, allowing four earned runs on six hits while striking out two and walking one. Cade Sonoqui provided solid relief giving up four hits and one walk to keep Lindenwood from adding to its lead.
Lindenwood scored all four of its runs in the fifth inning, using a stretch of five hits along with a pair of sacrifice flies to build the advantage.
At the plate, Western Illinois was led by Kamryn Link, who went 2-for-4 with a double. Joe Connolly also added a double, while Isaiah Monge, Cordell Coburn, and Josh McClintock each recorded a hit as part of the team's six-hit performance.
Western's lone run came in the eighth inning. McClintock scored the run, while Liam Bushey was credited with the RBI.
With the loss, Western Illinois moves to 8-24 overall and 3-8 in conference play.
WIU hopes to come back to the Lindenwood turf tomorrow and bounce back.
