Leathernecks Compete in Lindenwood Invite  

Western Illinois softball is heading to St. Charles for the Lindenwood Invite where they will face Indiana State, Valparaiso twice, and Green Bay. The Leathernecks are 5-9 on the season and will look to build on last year's performance, when they went 1-3 at the invite with their lone win over Valparaiso. This weekend is a chance to gain momentum and valuable experience against a variety of non-conference opponents.

Bellarmine Round Robin Recap  

The Western Illinois softball team closed out play at the Bellarmine Round Robin in Louisville with a 2-2 showing. In the first games the Leathernecks rolled past Bellarmine 17-3 before closing the day with a 5-2 victory over Northern Kentucky. Unfortunately the Leathernecks dropped their second games falling 0-6 against Bellarmine and 0-1 against Northern Kentucky. The Leathernecks will need to find more of that offensive success they showed capable of in the first 2 games going into the Lindenwood Invite. 

OVC Player of the Week Honors 

Brown delivered one of the top single-game offensive performances in program history in a win over Alabama A&M, totaling seven RBIs and blasting three home runs. Both the seven RBIs and three home runs tie Western Illinois single-game records.

The junior powered the Leathernecks' offense throughout the week, highlighted by her record-tying performance that accounted for a significant portion of the team's scoring output. Over six games during the award period, Brown hit .478 (11-for-23) with 15 RBIs, three home runs and two doubles. She posted a .500 on-base percentage and a .957 slugging percentage.

The Leathernecks will lean on Brown to do more of the same this week.
