Leathernecks Head to Alabama A&MÂ Â
Western Illinois continues its early-season slate with a trip south to take on Alabama A&M. The Bulldogs enter the matchup with a 5-3 overall record and are coming off an 8-5 victory over Coppin State this past Saturday. Alabama A&M has shown the ability to generate timely offense through the opening weeks of the season and will look to carry that momentum into the series.
Arkansas Pine Bluff Series RecapÂ
The Leathernecks opened their weekend series at Arkansas-Pine Bluff with a 1-2 showing at the Torii Hunter Complex. Western Illinois fell 5-3 in the opener before bouncing back with a dominant 8-0 shutout in game two. The series concluded with a tightly contested 4-3 loss in the finale.
Dominance on the MoundÂ
Sophomore Libby Spaulding delivered a statement weekend in the circle, earning OVC Co-Pitcher of the Week honors. Across two appearances, Spaulding tossed nine innings, allowed just one run, and struck out 13 batters. She also recorded a complete-game shutout, anchoring the Leathernecks' pitching staff with a dominant performance throughout the series.
