Western Illinois Drops Conference Match To Eastern Illinois

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois women's soccer dropped its second straight Ohio Valley Conference match on Thursday, falling 4-0 to Eastern Illinois at John MacKenzie Alumni Field.

The Panthers (5-4-2, 2-0-0) took control early behind Alex Tetteh, who scored twice in the first half to put EIU up 2-0 at halftime. Tetteh added two more goals in the second half, finishing with all four goals for Eastern Illinois. 

The Leathernecks produced five shots, including two on goal, with looks from Kayla Turner, Elise Grant, Hana Daoudi, and Abigail Schilling.

Freshman goalkeeper Lillian Johns made her second career start and recorded three saves over 63 minutes before giving way to Ariel Bernard. Daniela Gularte and Hilary Halpin each played the full 90 minutes to anchor the back line.

Western Illinois will continue conference play on Sunday, traveling to face Tennessee Tech.
