MACOMB, IL - Western Illinois women's soccer dropped a 6–1 decision Sunday at Tennessee Tech in OVC play, but the Leathernecks found a late bright spot when Claire Brown netted her first goal of the year in the 87th minute.
Brown's strike came on one of WIU's three shots of the afternoon, giving the team some reward after battling against heavy pressure throughout the match. Goalkeeper Ariel Bernard was tested often and came up with 14 saves.
Perla Rios put a shot on target early in the second half, and Anaiya Morris added another look before Brown's breakthrough.
The Leathernecks (1-12-0, 0-3-0 OVC) will now turn their attention to the upcoming stretch of conference play.
