WIU Softball Releases 2025 Fall Schedule

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois Head Coach Alisa Goler and the Leatherneck softball team announced their 2025 fall schedule. WIU will stay close to home this fall as they are set to host eight schools from the tri-state area.

The Leathernecks open up the fall season on Friday, September 12th, against Rock Valley Community College. They finish up the weekend with a battle against the College of Lake County. Western Illinois continues its home stretch against Lakeland Community College on September 20th and Spoon River Community College on September 26th. WIU will finish off their fall ball schedule hosting Heartland College (September 27th), Kirkwood Community College (October 4th), Danville Area Community College (October 5th), and Parkland Community College (October 12th)

Western Illinois Softball team brings back 15 players from last year's squad, headlined by OVC Player of the Year Payton Brown. Brown crushed all the offensive numbers for the Leathernecks, leading the team with 13 home runs and 38 RBIs. Brown batted .413 with an OPS of 1.245 and an on-base percentage of over .450.

In the circle, pitching coach Collin Hopkins brings back all but 7.2 innings pitched from last year's team. Lillie Wools led WIU with 29 appearances, including six complete games, and struck out 44 opposing hitters on the season. 

The Leathernecks also welcome seven newcomers to the 2026 squad. Coach Goler brings in a standout recruiting class featuring three transfers and four freshman.
