Leatherneck Athletics Celebrates Graduating Student-Athletes And Successful Spring '25 Semester

MACOMB, Ill- Western Illinois University celebrated the achievements of its 2025 Spring semester graduates on Saturday, May 10, honoring the successful completion of the academic careers of its students. The group of Spring 2025 student-athlete graduates included five Magna Cum Laude, three Summa Cum Laude, and three graduating Cum Laude.

In addition to honoring the graduates, the WIU athletic department has continued to see student-athletes produce academic success at high levels. As a whole, the Leatherneck student-athletes finished the Spring Semester with a combined GPA of 3.27. Over 70% of the student athletes earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher, while 12 programs maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Among the 70%, 134 student-athletes received Semester Honors with a GPA of 3.6 or above and 49 student-athletes earned a 4.0 GPA for the semester, with 15 student-athletes maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA for the academic year. Women's Tennis led all teams with a 3.729 GPA, and Men's Golf recorded the highest GPA on the men's side with a 3.365 GPA.
