Des Moines, IA - The Western Illinois Men's Golf team finished in 12th place at the Zach Johnson Invitational finishing the tournament with a score of 887 (+35). The Leathernecks improved from last tournament by 18 strokes.
Luke Lofgren led the way for WIU finishing inside the top 20. In round one, Lofgren had 2 birdies on the front nine as well as one birdie on the back nine to finish with a score of 69 (-2). He would follow that performance with a second round score of 71 (E) to put himself tied for fourth place heading into day two. In round three, Lofgren shot a 76 (+5) to place T16 with an overall score of 216 for the tournament (+3).
Owen Howe finished T45 shooting a 223 for the tournament (+10). Howe shot a 72 (+1) in round one followed by a 75 (+4) in round 2 and a 76 (+5) in the final round. Bayden Hubacher placed T54 shooting a 224 (+11). Hubacher had five birdies in round one including three straight birdies on holes 7-9 shooting a 71 (E). He would shoot a 78 (+7) in round two and 75 (+4) in round three.
Nathan Tillman finished the tournament T69 shooting +15 and Teagen Hull finished T72 shooting +16.
WIU is off next week, but will travel to Homer, Nebraska for the Throw Down Up Top Tournament hosted by South Dakota on October 7 through 9.
