Leatherneck Student-Athletes Named Marshals for Commencement Ceremonies

MACOMB, Ill. – A trio of Leatherneck student-athletes achieved high marks in the classroom from faculty and staff, earning the honor of serving as marshals for Western Illinois University's graduation ceremonies this weekend.
 
Students selected to serve as graduation marshals are at the top of their class from their departments. They lead the ceremony and can be easily recognized in their white robes. Gabriela Galindo Rubio from women's golf, Audrey Narine from women's soccer, and football student-athlete Kyle Wittenrich will play key roles in this weekend's events on campus.
 
As Commencement Marshals, Galindo Rubio, Narine, and Wittenrich will direct graduates and members of the stage party, including the university president and various vice presidents, during the ceremony. 
 
Honors Convocation and graduate ceremonies are slated to take place in Western Hall in Macomb on Friday, May 10, at 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm, respectively. Undergraduate ceremonies will follow on Saturday, May 11, taking place at 9:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. 
 
Galindo Rubio, an economics major, and Narine, an accountancy major, will serve in the 9:00 a.m. undergraduate ceremony in Western Hall. Wittenrich, a broadcasting and journalism major, will serve in the 1:30 pm undergraduate ceremony.
