Leathernecks Gear Up for OVC Tournament

Sweet 45
Raegan McCowan set a freshman record for points scored in a game with 45. The 45 points sit at number five in the NCAA in most points scored in women's basketball. It also stands as the most points a women's basketball player scored inside Western Hall.

OVC Tournament
Western Illinois will be making their first appearance in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. WIU will head into the conference tournament as the number seven seed, facing Tennessee Tech in the first round. 

Setting a New Bar
Head Coach JD Gravina became the winningest basketball coach in Western Illinois program history with a 65-59 victory. The win gives coach Gravina 193 career wins at WIU.    

Weekly Awards
Raegan McCowan has been on a tear this year, grabbing 17 weekly awards. McCowan has won a weekly award every week except one in which WIU has played two or more games since Nov. 28th.

22nd Member
Senior Anna Deets has been a dominant scorer her entire career. Against SEMO, Anna became the 22nd Leatherneck to eclipse the 1,000-point mark.

Freshman Rising
Raegan McCowan has been leading the Leathernecks all season long. Named the OVC Freshmen of the Week 13 times this season, McCowan is averaging 18.3 and 8.1 rebounds for WIU.

Double Figure Machine
Raegan McCowan has been a double-figure scoring machine. The freshman has scored double figures in 28 of the 29 games she has played this season.

Bench Production
Mallory McDermott has been a spark off of the Western Illinois bench. The Leathernecks are 7-2 when she knocks down three or more three-pointers in a game. McDermott had four three-pointers against Morehead State and Lindenwood.

Double-Double Magic
With seven double-double-double-doubles on the season. Starting at Morehead State, McCowan put together a 24-point and 14-rebound performance. McCowan followed it up with 26pt/14reb and 14pt/10reb at Linendwood and SEMO. She ended her four-game run with a 14pt/11reb performance.

OVC Rankings
Western Illinois ranks number one in the OVC in points scored at 74.5. The Leathernecks are also the number one in opponents ' point field goal percentage (28.4), Rebounds (41.1), Team defensive rebounds (29.7), and Rebound Margin (5.5)

On the player side, Raegan McCowan ranks first in points (19.2), fourth in rebounds (8.0), and fourth in field goal percentage (45.8%). Anna Deets sits first in free throws at 85.8%
