Historic Win
Western Illinois won a historic 81-75 win over the SIUE Cougars. The six-point win marked the first-ever win for WIU in the Ohio Valley Conference.
 
Off To a Hot Start
Western Illinois is off to a hot start to begin the 2023-24 campaign. The Leathernecks are posting an 11-3 record for the second time in the last three years. WIU has had an 11-3 or better record through the first ten games of play just thrice under Coach JD Gravina. WIU started the 2021-22 season with an 11-2 record.

Head Coach JD Gravina is one win away from tying Leslie Crane as the winningest coach in Western Illinois Women's Basketball history. He will need two wins to become the winningest coach.
 
Home Court Advantage
Western Illinois has taken full advantage of playing their first seven out of ten games at home. The Leathernecks sit with a perfect 9-1 record at home, defeating teams by an average of 30.75 points a game.
 
Chasing 1K
Senior Anna Deets has been a dominant scorer her entire career. Deets now sits just 98 points away from reaching the 1,000-point mark in her Leatherneck career. 
 
Freshman Rising
Raegan McCowan has been leading the Leathernecks all season long. Named the OVC Freshmen of the Week six times this season, McCowan is averaging 17.9 and 7.4 rebounds for WIU.

The Western Illinois squad has outrebounded its opponents by 597-465. The Leathernecks hold a 9.2 rebound differential. Western Illinois is cleaning up the offensive glass, outrebounding opponents 171-132 on that side of the ball.

On the player side, Raegan McCowan ranks first in points (17.9), fifth in rebounds (7.4), and second in field goal percentage (50.5%). Mallory McDermott is fourth with 2.3 threes a game, and Addi Brownfield is fourth in steals at 1.9 per game.
