David Ayala takes home Summit League Golfer of the Week Honors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Western Illinois Men's Golfer David Ayala has been named TicketSmarter Summit League Golfer Peak Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league offices on Thursday afternoon.

Ayala took home first-place honors at the WIU Invite at TPC Deere Run this past weekend. Heading into the final round, Ayala was sitting three strokes back. A solid -2 69 in the final round prevailed him to victory. Ayala knocked down two clutch birdies in the last three holes to finish the tournament in the first place.

The Bogota, Columbia native is the first Leatherneck to take home Summit League Golfer of the Week honors since Cameron Karney took home the award in 2021.
