Western Illinois tennis falls at SLU

Leathernecks meet Lindenwood on Monday

Box Score The Western Illinois women's tennis team fell on the road against St. Louis University on Friday, dropping the match, 7-0. The Billikens took the doubles point with a pair of match victories over the Leathernecks. In the singles portion of the event, St. Louis swept Western Illinois.

Lorena Castellanos would win the first set of her match, 6-2, but would fall 2-6 in the second set and 3-10 in the third-set tiebreaker. In other singles action for Western Illinois, Paige Grice (2-6, 2-6), Lara Rossetto Diniz de Souza (0-6, 5-7), Agatha Carbonell (1-6, 0-6), Lucky Kancherla (3-6, 1-6) and Maria Rybka (3-6, 4-6) would all drop their matches.

In doubles, the teams Rossetto Diniz de Souza and Rybka (2-6) and Grice and Castellanos (4-6) each dropped their match. The third doubles match was abandoned. Western Illinois is next in action on Monday, taking on Lindenwood at noon. The Leathernecks then head west, visiting Northeastern State University (Oklahoma) on Thursday, then start Summit League play at Oral Roberts next Saturday.
