Hess and Fawcett Set to Represent Leathernecks at ITA Midwest Regional

MACOMB, IL. – Western Illinois women's tennis will be represented on one of the region's biggest stages this weekend as Jessica Hess and Mana Fawcett travel to the University of Illinois for the ITA Midwest Regional Championships.

The main draw of the tournament begins Thursday, Oct. 9, with Fawcett competing in the singles draw while Fawcett and Hess will team up in doubles competition.

The ITA Midwest Regional brings together some of the top collegiate tennis players in the region, providing the Leathernecks with an opportunity to compete against high-level competition while representing Western Illinois on a regional stage.

For Fawcett, the weekend will feature competition in both singles and doubles. She will take on the singles field individually before joining Hess for doubles play.

Hess and Fawcett will look to build on their chemistry as a doubles team while facing some of the top pairings in the region. Their doubles draw provides an opportunity for the Leathernecks to make a deep run and compete for one of the most significant prizes of the fall season.

The stakes are particularly high at the regional championships, with the two singles finalists earning qualification to the ITA National Fall Championships. The doubles champion from each ITA region will also earn a spot at the national championships.

With national championship berths on the line, the Leathernecks enter the weekend looking to make their mark against some of the best competition in the Midwest.

The ITA Midwest Regional begins Oct. 9 at the University of Illinois. Results and updates from the tournament will be available through Western Illinois women's tennis social media and GoLeathernecks.com.
