Leathernecks Finish 10th in Opening Tournament

MACOMB, Ill – Western Illinois Men's Golf team wrapped up its opening weekend at the Pizza Hut/Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational. The Leathernecks finished in 10th place with a team score of +82. WIU saw their team score drop each round starting with a 318 in round one to a 312 in round three.

Dylan Cervantes led Western Illinois in the tournament. The senior finished with a three-round score of 230 that had him tied for 49th. Dylan had an opening round 77 that saw him have four birdies. The Moline, Illinois native got the ball rolling in the third round. He would have a one-over-third round that saw two birdies and an eagle.

Bayden Hubacher played in his second collegiate golf tournament, finishing 62nd. The freshman from Crystal Lake saw himself start with back-to-back 78s on days one and two before dropping off a little for a final-round 81. Hubacher had six birdies in the tournament, which was third-best on WIU.

As a team, WIU totaled 29 birdies and one eagle. The eagle helped WIU be one of eight teams to have at least an eagle in the tournament.
