Leathernecks looking to top last year's win total

The Western Illinois women's tennis team hits the road for a pair of matches this week, visiting Dayton on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. then going to Ashland for an 11 a.m. start on Sunday.

The Leathernecks are coming off a weekend split, topping Southern Indiana last Friday before falling to Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Saturday.

With the win last week, WIU improved to 3-2 overall, matching last season's win total. One win this weekend would match the program's most wins since a 4-10 finish in 2018-19. A fifth win would be the most for the team since going 10-8 in 2017-18.

Agatha Carbonell, Aina Cortina-Pou, Paige Grice, Lucky Kancherla and Lara Diniz de Souza lead the way, all with matching 2-2 singles records during the spring/winter season.

After this weekend's matches, Western Illinois is on the road for one match next week, visiting Northern Illinois on February 18.
