Drew Cisse Named OVC Newcomer of the Week

Leathernecks open conference play on Sunday

MACOMB -- Drew Cisse earned Western Illinois' first-ever Ohio Valley Conference individual award in men's basketball in program history, being named OVC Newcomer of the Week on Wednesday.

Cisse had another standout week for the Leathernecks, averaging 14 points and 14 rebounds in wins over Eureka and Central.

Against Eureka, Cisse finished with 14 points on 7-8 shooting while pulling down 11 boards. The senior from San Diego added two blocks.
Cisse added another double-double, following his Eureka performance with 14 points (6-8 shooting) while grabbing 17 rebounds at Central Arkansas. The double-doubles were Cisse's third and fourth of the season.

Cisse currently leads Division I men's basketball with 159 total rebounds. He is tied for third with 12.2 boards per contest, fifth with 4.23 offensive rebounds per game and seventh with 8.0 defensive rebounds per. He leads the OVC in all rebounding categories and tops the conference in block shots. 

The Leatherneck are next in action on Sunday, making their OVC debut at SIU-Edwardsville.
