MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois Men's Golf is excited to welcome three new players next fall as part of their 2024 signing class.

"Leatherneck Golf has inked an amazing recruiting class!" Said Director of Golf Lia Biehl Lukkarinen, "Owen Howe - who completed his high school career as Iowa State Champion and Player of the year has finished his high school season at the very highest level. Teagen Hull and Maverick Schwabe have each compiled many wins and still have their senior season to continue setting records." Lukkarinen added. "We welcome them to Leatherneck Nation!"

Owen Howe joins the Leathernecks after spending his high school career in Johnston, Iowa. Howe finished his senior season, earning Iowa Player of the Year at the 4A level. He made first-team All-Tournament and 1st-team All-State. Howe wrapped up his final campaign in high school with an individual State Championship at Otter Creek, shooting even par (142) over the two-day tournament. Howe was no stranger to success as he helped his team win a team state title in 2022.

Teagen Hull is the second future Leatherneck to join the Western Illinois in 2024. The Eldon, MO native has dominated the golf world at his age and was named a 3x MGA Junior Tour Player of the Year. Hull was a conference champion and also won the 2022 Junior Amateur Championship. Hull maintained his success in 2023 with a district championship. Hull has been a state qualifier three times and earned All-State honors in two of those three years.

Maverick Schwabe joins the 2024 class as a seasoned tournament winner. From Carroll, Iowa, Schwabe has won 16 tournaments,  including an  Iowa 2A District Championship. Golfing in the Hawkeye 10 conference, Schwabe won a conference championship and the honors of having the All-Conference Low scoring average.
