| By:
MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Softball team celebrated remarkable success with its recent Hit-A-Thon fundraiser, raising an astounding $7,782 to purchase new backstop padding at Mary Ellen McKee Stadium. The success of this first-time event reflects the dedication and commitment of the student-athletes and their supporters, highlighting the strength of the WIU Softball community.

The Hit-A-Thon event, held on October 8 at Mary Ellen McKee Stadium, brought together passionate players, coaches, and supporters who swung for the fences, aiming to help out their team with facility upgrades for the upcoming season.

"We were extremely pleased with our first ever Hit-A-Thon," said Head Softball Coach Alisa Goler. "We really believe that we can build it up even more in the future, and I know that both our players and coaching staff enjoyed the chance to participate. Having people in the stands made it a lot more exciting as well. We are so thankful to everyone that pledged or gave one-time gifts."

The $7,782 raised during the Hit-A-Thon fundraiser will be used to enhance the existing softball facilities, ensuring that Leatherneck Softball student-athletes have a playing field to be proud of. The WIU Softball team expresses its heartfelt gratitude to all participants and supporters who made this event a resounding success.

"We are blessed with amazing families, friends, and alumni here at WIU," said Goler. "I'm very excited for everyone to see the cosmetic upgrades to Mary Ellen McKee Stadium come this spring!"
