WIU welcomes back alumni for big weekend

Spring camp comes to a close for the Western Illinois football program on Friday night with the annual Bruce Craddock Spring Game.
The Leathernecks have held 15 practices over the last month, ramping up for the summer training season as well as beginning preparations for the fall 2022 schedule.
Gates to Hanson Field open at 5:45 p.m. while tailgating begins in designated areas in Q Lot at 3:30 p.m.
Festivities inside Hanson Field start with the annual alumni handshake, when the Leatherneck past and present gather for a handshake at midfield at 6:15 p.m. to celebrate Western Illinois football.
Honorary alumni captains Brian Spotts and Jerry Holloway will lead the way.
The evening's action will proceed with individual drills featuring offense, defense and special teams units.
Game scenarios will also be part of the evening as the Leatherneck coaching staff will put players through the paces in a controlled scrimmage with the offense taking on the defense in game-like situations.
The weekend continues Saturday with the Leatherneck Football Golf Outing, which will be held at Harry Mussatto Golf Course.
Registration begins at 10 a.m. with play starting at 11:30 a.m.
"We are very excited for Friday night, as this is a great weekend for Leatherneck Football," Western Illinois coach Myers Hendrickson said. "We have an outstanding group of proud Leatherneck Football Alumni back and the team is looking forward to getting back on Hanson Field for our Spring Game.
"We have come a long ways this spring, which is a credit to the players. In all three phases, Defense, Offense, Special Teams we have moved forward and improved in huge ways. Energy has been great all spring, we have been building momentum, excited about the direction we are going."
