Leathernecks fifth at Stampede

Govern leads the way

OMAHA, Neb. – The Western Illinois men's golf team finished fifth at the nine-team Stampede at the Creek Invite, hosted by Omaha on Tuesday.
The Leathernecks compiled a three-round, two-day score of 289-290-301 for an 880, good for +16.
Parker Govern led the way for Western, recording a top 10 finish.
Over the three rounds, Govern had scores of 67-69-77 for a -3, 213.
Wyatt Spier was next on the leaderboard for Western Illinois, shooting rounds of 70-76-73 for a +3, 219.
John Lishchynski was next, recording an 82-71-74—227, finishing with a +11.
David Ayala turned in a +14 230 with rounds of 77-76-77 while Cameron Karney had a 75-79-79—233 (+17).
Dylan Cervantes added a 78-74-86-238 (+22).
North Dakota State won the team title.
The Leathernecks are now off until playing in the Summit League Championships, hosted in Newton, Kansas, May 1-May 3.
